World Cup Prophecy
Here I am, sitting here with my hair drenched from shower 5 minutes ago, watching the match between Italy and Germany on TV.
It suddenly struck me.
What an acquaintance told me 5 months ago came back to me like an unwanted ex at your doorstep.
'The World Cup is fixed' he said.
'NO!' I bellowed. I was still healing from knowing about the WWF being fixed. I didn't want to believe him.
'Sure it is' he continued. 'An European team sponsored by Nike or Adidas is going to win it'.
My heart sank because Argentina is South American.
'Brazil is not going to take the Cup this year?' I asked skeptically. They are hugely popular and a favorite of many. Not to mention the talents and skills on that team.
'Nope'. He was dead confident.
I brushed this conversation aside until just 4 minutes ago.
Man, that guy is on his way to being right! Spot on right.
All the teams left are European and they are sponsored by either Nike or Adidas (I am not sure about Italy but if Italy is not sponsored by either, they're going to lose anyways and so you shall see).
Let's see. Brazil is sponsored by Nike and Brazil won the last Cup. My guess is, the two giant sponsors have agreed to let each one have a go at the Cup so Adidas' team is going to win the Cup this year.
It's either France or Germany then.
BUT. Germany is the host country and therefore would look prettier with the Cup (France had their chance in 98 anyways remember?).
Germany is going to win World Cup 2006.
If this is true, I am approaching World Cup 2010 with a whole lot less enthusiasm.
No wonder referees and linesmen are always so biased. They have an agenda to fulfill.
